20 Holiday Cartoons I Made for Christmas

I love the holiday season! And to get us into the holiday spirit, I created these 20 Christmas cartoons. Ho-ho-ho. I started my journey in animation at age 4 when I drew Fred Flintstone on the living room wall. My siblings liked it, my parents… not so much. I’ve always liked Funnies. My favorites are Bloom County, Calvin and Hobbes, and The Far Side.

My work has been published and sold around the world in magazines, newspapers, webcomics, greeting cards, and children’s books. My cartoons have appeared in such publications as The Saturday Evening Post, Reader’s Digest, and New York.

I draw all my cartoons on a digital tablet. A cartoon can take from an hour to 8 or 10 hours, depending on the complexity. Using digital technology allows me to change colors, add backgrounds and effects, and create cartoons—all electronically.

I was asked if any cartoons were my favorites. The honest answer is “No.” Sometimes it’s ironic because a cartoon that I think is well thought out, really smart, and aesthetically pleasing gets ignored by the editor… and they go with the one that was scrapped and relegated as an afterthought. Go figure it out.

Besides Christmas, I create cartoons for all major holidays. I find humor in all of them, which keeps me very busy all year round.

I’ve been doing this for quite some time. I’m most comfortable when I create cartoons in my studio. Of all the professions, why cartooning? I don’t know, maybe I’m just drawn to it.
