Today, we’re thrilled to present the latest creations from cartoonist Jonathan Ray Hawkins, who first introduced his “Zoolies” series on Bored Panda last November. If you happened to miss the previous post, fear not—you can easily catch up now!
We caught up with Jonny to get the inside scoop on his cartoons, and here’s what he had to say: “If I had to sum up my comics in three words, they would be: Relatable, Punderful, and Tasteful. I believe they’re relatable because readers can easily see themselves in my characters, whether they’re shepherds, shell collectors, or sheep. I like to think my comics are wonderful fun for all ages—kids and grown-ups alike. And, I make sure they’re tasteful, just in case I need to eat my words later, giving readers a clean, wholesome laugh without the need for a post-comic shower!”

We were also curious about which cartoonists and comedians inspire Jonny’s work, and he graciously shared his thoughts: “I draw inspiration from a wide range of creators. Disney, Dr. Seuss, Charles Schulz—those classic names—are big influences, but more recently I’ve been inspired by Gary Larson, Tom Cheney, Nurit Karlin, Harley Schwadron, Liz Climo, Liana Finck, Rex May (aka ‘Baloo’), and Bob Vojtko. It’s tough to pick just a few because I admire so many cartoonists! P.C. Vey is another one to add to the list. As for comedians, I really enjoy Steven Wright’s clever, monotone wit. I’ve always been a fan of Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, Michael Junior, Jonathan Winters, and Jerry Seinfeld, too.”
