As a full-time parent to two energetic boys, David Ostow often finds his creative time slipping through his fingers. Yet, when the universe offers him a break, he seizes the opportunity to indulge in his favorite pastime—drawing cartoons.
His inspiration is drawn from the world around him, tapping into everything from the antics of children to the complexities of politics, and occasionally the curious in-between. In a past conversation, David shared that while he’s also toying with the idea of writing a children’s book, his passion for cartooning remains steadfast. “They’re just too enjoyable to create and sketch to ever walk away from,” he confessed, affirming his dedication to both worlds.

Finally, David reflected on the impact he hopes his comics have on his audience.
“Given how simple the format is, it’s a challenge to provoke genuine laughter with just a single panel. When I come across a cartoon that resonates, it’s usually a chuckle and a thought of ‘That’s clever.’ So when something I create actually elicits a laugh out loud, it’s a rare and meaningful moment. For me, even the process of coming up with ideas that feel worth sketching is a win, but if I manage to make someone laugh so hard they spill their coffee—that’s the ultimate goal.”
