French illustrator Cosmo captivates audiences with her intricate and vividly colorful artwork often portraying women in stunning settings paired with sharp witty messages. Blending various artistic influences, Cosmo describes her style as a fusion of different genres. ‘The crisp lines in my work are heavily inspired by comics mainly French and Belgian though sometimes American. My depiction of women takes cues from classical painting, particularly pre-Raphaelite and neo-classical styles. I love bold color palettes anachronistic details and a good dose of sarcasm.’ Scroll through to explore her unique creations and let us know your thoughts on this distinctive artistic approach.

“In a recent interview, Cosmo shared more about her background and artistic journey. I’m from Étretat a charming seaside town in Normandy France. Before becoming an illustrator, I worked in both the fashion and jazz industries. It’s been over six years now since I fully embraced illustration as my career. Her diverse experiences have shaped her distinctive artistic voice blending elegance humor and a touch of nostalgia.

We wanted to understand what first sparked Cosmo’s passion for art. She shared that creativity runs in her family though not in the form of drawing. My parents are both creative individuals, even though neither of them are artists in the traditional sense. I was fortunate to grow up in an environment filled with art visiting museums, reading books, exploring music, and discovering comics. They encouraged my love for drawing from an early age and nurtured my appreciation for the arts as a whole.

When it comes to her creative process, Cosmo admits it’s not always straightforward. I’ve always admired artists who can visualize their entire composition before even starting those who sketch a rough draft that perfectly aligns with their final piece. That’s never been my approach. I can probably count on one hand the times I’ve had a fully formed idea before beginning. For me, it’s more about knowing the key elements I want to include and the message I want to convey. From there, my hand and mind take over shaping the piece as I go.

Cosmo hopes her artwork resonates with audiences on multiple levels. I want people to feel joy, laughter, and a sense of escape when they see my work. But beyond that, I also aim to spark curiosity and reflection about the world around us. Sarcasm plays a huge role in what I create it’s both a personal outlet and a way for others to engage with my art in different ways. I love making pieces that can be enjoyed at face value but also invite deeper thought. With a playful touch she added, I just hope people never grow tired of my humor.
