Mark Parisi’s Off the Mark comics are a delightful exploration of the randomness surrounding us. With his quirky characters and playful punchlines, Mark transforms the mundane into moments of unexpected humor, showing that laughter is just a twist away. Each strip feels like a miniature adventure, offering a brief escape into a world where even the simplest things become amusing. Whether he’s poking fun at familiar situations or celebrating the absurdity of daily life Mark’s comics bring a smile to anyone who takes a moment to enjoy them. Mark once said comics have a special way of saying things quickly without all the words. He feels that pictures tell a story everyone can understand no matter where they’re from. Humor, in his view, is a powerful tool to make hard things feel a little less heavy acting like a safety net that lets people connect with difficult subjects. He simply said It’s like adding sugar to medicine.

Mark has a special bond with some of his artwork. I drew cartoons about my daughter when she was little and years later she was in a birthing class where the instructor showed those very cartoons. It felt like a strange loop he recalled. These days, he’s drawing cartoons about his grandson which adds an even deeper layer of significance to his creations.

We asked Mark to imagine creating a comic strip for a time capsule to share with future generations. Reflecting on the message he’d want to leave he said it would be an apology for what we’ve done to the planet. With his usual wit, he added a reminder of how amazing Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies are.
