20 Birdfish Adventures A Journey Through Whimsical Chats and Friendships

Hi, I’m Adam, 36, a Polish social media manager based in Berlin. You might recognize me from Bored Panda, where I introduced my comic character, Depression Chicken. Today, I am excited to introduce you to another quirky protagonist: the Birdfish. The Birdfish is a hilarious creature with the legs of a chicken and serves as Depression Chicken’s sarcastic yet endearing sidekick. Known for delivering unrefined punchlines, he’s a character with a heart of gold despite his rough exterior. If you enjoy my comics you can follow the Birdfish on Instagram, or explore more of my posts on Bored Panda where you’ll find even more Birdfish adventures.

Birdfish has been a part of my Depression Chicken stories from the start, originating from a lighthearted sketch I drew during a work call. The idea of a fish with chicken legs struck me as amusing so I decided to carry that quirky concept into my comics. And thus, Birdfish was born a bit cynical, yet undeniably lovable, serving as the perfect companion to Depression Chicken.

I believe a grounded character like Birdfish works perfectly in my comics because he lightens the heavy topic of mental health with humor. Mental health is a significant issue but from what I have seen in my community, people not only connect with the themes I explore but also enjoy the playful twist Birdfish adds to the conversation. It’s a balance of seriousness and levity that resonates with many.

Birdfish was also influenced by my friends as our conversations often spark ideas for my comics. Besides that, I draw inspiration from Instagram reels and TikToks, which I enjoy transforming into animations. I’ve also dabbled with artificial intelligence, creating some comics with the help of ChatGPT. Initially, it was just curiosity, but I quickly realized that by feeding ChatGPT detailed descriptions of my characters and their interactions the results could be surprisingly amusing.
