Greetings I am Talmadge and I am here to share a little world of my creation with you. Picture Zanyeea universe where the rules are made of whimsy, and nothing is quite what it seems. Everything is alive and anything is possible. Zanyee lives in the frame of a single-panel cartoon a snapshot frozen in time. The humor stems from twisting familiar moments and letting them come alive, seen through the eyes of quirky characters. I have always been drawn to the simplicity of single-panel cartoons and the quick hit-or-miss of the joke. There is no need for buildup just a punch right to the point. Something is fascinating about how one piece of art can tell a whole story before and after the moment you catch it in the frame. It all began with the Scholastic Book Fair where I discovered comics like Heathcliff Marmaduke, Garfield, Ziggy, and Peanuts. These early influences shaped my comic-loving brain. As time went on I gravitated towards Bloom County and Calvin and Hobbes. But it was The Far Side by Gary Larson that truly left its mark on me. His book The Prehistory of The Far Side became my bible teaching me the art of cartooning. I got my start creating cartoons for my high school and college papers but after graduation life took its course and my cartoons were relegated to a suitcase under the bed for two decades. Then came 2016. With a new iPad and Apple Pencil in hand, I decided it was time to dust off those old sketches and breathe new life into them. What followed was a digital renaissance. My cartoons went from pen and paper to iPad and Pixelmator and I haven’t looked back since. The digital world opened up endless creative possibilities and I haven’t stopped exploring them. So with every cartoon I create, I hope to sprinkle a little laughter into the world. Welcome to Zanyee where the unexpected is always around the corner.

I had the chance to draw cartoons for both my high school and college newspapers but after graduation, my cartoons took a backseat. Life happened and my creations spent two decades gathering dust in a suitcase beneath my bed. Then, in 2016, everything changed. I got my hands on an iPad and an Apple Pencil and suddenly things sparked to life. I dug out that old suitcase dusted it off and started bringing my cartoons into the digital world. Moving from Pigma pens and paper to an iPad and Pixelmator opened up a whole new world of possibilities. Now, I am constantly amazed by how much creativity the digital realm offers. It’s like an endless playground and I can’t stop creating. All I want is to send a few smiles into the universe. Welcome to Zanyee.

Creating a single-panel cartoon is like watching a random thought transform into something tangible. I’ve never been one to force ideas. I just let them unfold naturally. Most of my cartoon ideas come to me right before I fall asleep or when my mind starts to drift. The idea isn’t always fully formed at first it evolves as the cartoon develops. Once I start sketching, the process feels more like sculpting than drawing. I move things around reshaping them to fit within the frame. After all that, I never really feel like any cartoon is truly finished. There’s always a lingering sense that something could be different. But eventually, I reach a point where it feels complete enough and I move on to the next idea.
